Blessings in 2012

For a number of years I've made resolutions at this time of the year - and have managed to keep a few - but this year I'm going to do something different. As I listen to the CD I received for Christmas, I'm reminded of all the things I have to be thankful for in 2012.

Faith. It is a gift.

The cross and His blood. Where would I be today if He hadn't shed His blood for my sins?

His comfort and presence. Memories come at the most unexpected time; memories that have the power to rekindle grief, but I'm thankful that He offers us His comfort and has promised never to leave us or forsake us.

His protection. When we've known about it and when we haven't. 2012 was particularly eventful with a car accident and a granddaughter breaking an arm while listening to a book (we must ban that dangerous pastime!).

Family. I have been so blessed.

DH, who still loves me, is still committed, after almost twenty-nine years of marriage.

Our sons. Their lives. Their wives. Their precious children who bring such joy and delight (and remind me that I'm not getting any younger).

An upcoming wedding (even if it means I have to go through the dreaded process of finding something to wear).

Their health. Their gifts. Their employment.

This home - the life that is in it - and the building that supports the life and memories.

Writing. A gift and desire that comes from God.

A publisher who has been a pleasure to work with. (Finally, someone in the communication industry who can communicate!)

A book that should be available early this year.

Ideas. Dreams. Passions.

Pastimes. That I have health and time to enjoy life.

The privilege of leading a wonderful team at work this past year.

Technology that enables me to continue to knit, quilt, and read despite eyesight that is no longer what it once was.

Feminine Beauty. That I am wonderfully made. And when I accept my uniqueness, I accept all that God has made me to be.

For health. For joints and limbs that move. A heart that beats.

The beauty and wisdom that comes with maturity. (Whether I possess it or not is another story!)

For all that He has done, and is going to do, I am thankful.

And so very blessed.

I'm not good at keeping New Year's Resolutions so I don't make them anymore. I do like your lists of blessings. A great idea!

Jules,

I like this as well. I never make new Year's resolutions--at least, not since I was a teenager. I think I am too perfectionistic for that and the extra pressure means that I will more than likely fail, or hate whatever I resolved to do. Kudos to those it works for, it just is not for me. But this is a beautiful idea.

I hope you are well. All of your granddaughter photos are beautiful. I also hope most adorable granddaughter #1 is feeling better. Breaking you arm is no fun, but I am glad nothing worse happened. The world is just crazy, isn't it?

Happy New Year, and belated Merry Christmas!
