Friends Never Say Goodbye

Today I finished work 45 minutes early so that I could farewell a good friend at the airport. This friend has been to me like the brother I never had. We've laughed together, cried together, even disagreed at times, but we've still remained friends.

We first welcomed Scott into our lives almost five years ago. We had no idea when we first met him that he would come to mean so much to our family - that despite background and culture he would become one of us.

It is with much sadness that we see him go. He came here on a Christian worker's visa and the government saw fit not to renew his visa. I have no idea if we'll ever see him again this side of heaven. But as Christians at least we have that comfort: we will meet again. As Christians we never say goodbye for the last time. I'm so glad that we know without the shadow of a doubt that one day we'll see each other again.

Meanwhile, thanks Scott for all you meant to us. For your friendship and your love and your dedication and for giving of yourself. We're gonna miss you lots.

I always feel such gratefulness to the Lord that we can know that we will never really have to say goodbye if we know Christ as our Savior. I think of family that has passed away, and that were believers, and I am so thankful for that hope of seeing them again. It is such a comfort! And the wonderful thing is that we will be able to see friends and loved ones for an ETERNITY :).
