F is for ... First

Although perhaps it should be for farewell as I'm wondering if I should keep this blog up. But since I still have twenty more days to go on this self-appointed challenge, first it is.

I'm the firstborn ... but only by default. An elder brother died at birth which perhaps explains why I have some of the characteristics of the first-born and most of the insecurities of the middle-child. I never enjoyed being the eldest and wouldn't wish it on anyone, but someone has to do it. I'm told that being the middle child or the youngest isn't any fun either, so it seems that no birth order is perfect.

Right now I can't think of any advantages to being first (perhaps that's because I only had one sibling and she got to do most everything at the same time that I did which I always considered extremely unfair because that meant that I had had to wait two-and-a-half-years longer than she had before I got to do the same things) but I can think of a number of things that start with F that are firsts with me.

Faith.

Family.

Friends.

Fellowship.

Fun.

Food.

Fabulous list, wouldn't you say?

I would be very sad if you closed your blog, Jules. I really enjoy reading it. However, I do understand how life can be eventful, and that you have far more important things to do than to keep an online journal.

That said, being the youngest is no fun, really ;) My mother and father are both the youngest children, and they had it very hard. So they always understood my position.
I think that the age difference between siblings plays an important part in perceiving the whole birth order thing. Somehow it seems more pronounced when the age difference is huge.

Hi Lil, welcome to the alphabet posts. I've enjoyed reading yours so far.

I guess the reason I was thinking of closing my blog is because it does take effort and time and I was really wondering if anyone out there was actually reading it. I know other people get busy too and I don't always keep up to date with my blog reading as much as I'd like to, but if no one gets any enjoyment out of it apart from me, is it really worth the effort?

Thanks Ohtawen for saying that you enjoy reading it. Never having been the youngest, I thank you for your insight.
