Advent ... Egypt

It's interesting that the last few posts have been about how Jesus' birth fulfilled prophecies given hundreds of years before His birth. Interesting in that I had no intention of delving into the various prophecies when I decided to blog on Advent. Still, it's good to remind ourselves that the birth of Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies about His birth - and there were several hundred! What are the chances of that unless Jesus' birth was orchestrated by God Himself?

Egypt. Joseph fled there with Mary and the Baby Jesus after being warned in a dream and remained there until the death of Herod. It was a matter of safety. Flee and save the Baby's life or stay and risk Him being slaughtered along with all the other infant boys.

I know what I'd do as a parent if I had prior warning. Egypt, here we come!

When Israel was a child, I loved him,
And out of Egypt I called My son.
Hosea 11:1, NKJV

When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt, and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My Son.” Matthew 2:14-15, NKJV
