Not Giving Up

This Christmas is an in-law Christmas (as opposed to the out-law Christmas where sons and their families spend Christmas with the wife's side) and, as such, we have been earnestly praying for Son#5 and DIL#5 and The Most Adorable Granddaughter#8 to make it to New Zealand for Christmas.

But there's a problem.

A problem which has its roots in a moment of carelessness and a whole year almost of bureaucracy. It began in January when Son#5 needed to manually open a garage door due to some snow and placed his wallet on the car while he did so, and then a few moments later, drove off. Once he realised his mistake, he retraced his steps (or should that be his wheels?) but no wallet.

Most everything could be replaced with the filling in of paperwork and exchange of money to cover the fees. Everything that is except his Green Card.

We have been fervently praying for the appearance of that Green Card, and more so as this weekend has now become the cut-off date. No card, no coming to visit family downunder.

Time is running out. And yet, we have no doubt that our God can work a miracle in the time remaining. What appears to us as a huge mountain, is nothing to God. Two years ago, we were praying for DIL#5's visa. Now it's a Green Card.

We saw answers to prayer then. Recently, there have been other answers to prayer: Son#3 returning from Canada in time for his SIL's wedding (okay, it was cutting it a bit fine to arrive the day before but he made it); the birth of The Most Charming Grandson#2 ... and #3 and that all are safe and healthy; a house that is in a condition to receive guests this Christmas (we did a practice run with four young ladies last week and received no complaints!); and another book printed and now also available as an eBook.

Yes, God has answered prayer in the past and we trust Him to hear us again as we pray and ask for all the family to be gathered this Christmas.
