Another August Rollercoaster

Eleven years ago August was an emotional rollercoaster as we celebrated Son#3 and DIL#3's engagement (at the time) and wondered whether our fifth granddaughter was going to be born whole and healthy. She was - and what a joy she is - but this August, as we were about to celebrate her eleventh birthday, we embarked on another emotional rollercoaster.

But it wasn't the youngest in the family putting us through the wringer this time but DH's 96 year old mother. From worrying symptoms, through to a fall at home, to the doctor advising us to call the family to her bedside, to nurses confirming our worst fears, to an almost complete turn around, to where we are now, that except for the fact that she in no longer in her own home, it's almost as if the past two or so weeks never occurred.

But they did. And once we were assured that DH's mother was stable, and with out-of-town siblings visiting and taking care and control, DH and I took the opportunity to visit Son#2 and family and celebrate birthdays, albeit a week late.

Unfortunately, the Birthday Girl wasn't feeling 100% (hence is not in any photos) but still it was lovely to catch up with some of the family and enjoy some time together, and, for a very welcome change, enjoy some fine weather with some even finer scenery.
