Crazy

It seems crazy that it's been over a month since I wrote a blog post and yet, that's what life has been like: crazy.

In February DH and I, and Son#2 and The Most Adorable Granddaughter#5 made a flying visit to Australia to celebrate my mum's eightieth birthday. Unlike in 2019 when we all went for my dad's eightieth birthday, this was a much smaller affair due to my mother's health.

However, she had a lovely day and also had the joy of having her immediate family altogether for the first time in fifteen years!

While there, we managed to do a small amount of sightseeing although this was limited due to time and Miss Twelve-And-A-Half - aka The Most Adorable Granddaughter#5 - asking each time we got in the car, "How long will it take?" and choosing activities based on those closest to where we were staying (New Zealand just doesn't have the vast distances Australia does and we generally don't drive far in the course of a day compared to what Australians happily do).

There was little time for research or writing (which was not the purpose of the trip this time anyway), although I did have the privilege of talking to a senior assembly at a Christian school about my writing and books. I have a feeling that I inspired at least one student to trust the Lord with their dreams.

Since returning home, life has been busy with the proofs of my latest book (here's a teaser)

and life in general. When there has been any free time, I've been working on a set of three wall hangings for our room (yes, I know, every time I do a stained glass quilt I say never again, but somehow I do it all over again) ...

They are far from finished. Even the one that looks finished has only been handstitched down on one side of the bias strip so that I could remove the tacking.

However, the proofs, I hope, are done, and I'm hoping that very soon I can share the news that the book has gone to the printers.
