Yesterday morning Son#1 rang and asked if we would like to have The Most Adorable Granddaughter overnight. Would we! Of course we would! We've been waiting for this moment since the day she was born!
We've raised five sons: how hard can one little girl be to care for?!?! Unlike our boys, she's not that fussed on sleeping. Yesterday we had to take Son#2 to the airport, an hour's drive away. We expected that The Most Adorable Granddaughter would fall asleep in the car. She did - five minutes from our destination!
At the airport she quickly grew bored and her uncles took it in turns taking her for walks. Then it was time to come back home and she chattered most of the way and decided it was time to eat the food she'd refused earlier. And no more sleeps thank you very much, I've had my quota for today!
By tea time we had one very tired and out-of-sorts little girl. A quick wash in front of the fire, into her pyjamas, and bed for her. She was asleep in a very short time. She did wake around 10 pm and took a little while to settle but since then has slept all night. She's still asleep. We'll be letting her sleep as long as we can - there's still a few hours before we have to leave for church (and I'm looking forward to the fun of dressing her in pretty girl clothes). In the meantime I guess I could tidy my house: you wouldn't believe the mess one little girl and 3 teenage boys can make - or would you?
