Children are So Honest

"Do you know you talk funny?" The Most Adorable Granddaughter in the World#1 asked our guest as he was leaving.

"Yes I do," he graciously replied.

Our friend is American (apologies to all my American friends and incidentally, I like your accent) but has lived in New Zealand and more recently in Thailand. His accent isn't perhaps as 'pure' as it once was.

We're surprised that The Most Adorable Granddaughter#1 even noticed considering all the talking she was doing.

I wonder how long it will be before she realises that I talk funny?

How cute! If she only knew about all the different accents that Americans have, Southern, New England and so forth.

Lol. That is so true about kids and honesty. I remember a little girl telling my grandma that her teeth looked yucky (those were the words the little girl used). It must have bothered my grandma because she had them fixed!

I asked The Most Adorable Granddaughter in the World#1 if I talked funny and she just laughed and said 'No'. With a mother and father who are both Australian-New Zealand and with an Australian grandparent on both sides of the family she's probably quite familiar with the Aussie accent. I must admit that I noticed our friend's accent was stronger this time than when we said goodbye to him a year ago but I'm still surprised that she picked up on it. Guess children will always amaze us.

She's so cute she could get by with telling me I looked like a monkey. I wasn't quite so cute when I did the same to a man at church when I was about 10. I guess what goes around comes around!
