Otherwise known as the weekend. I thought it would be a long slow weekend with DH away but as these photos prove, it was the opposite. It went so fast! It's hard to believe that this time next week DH will be home again. Just.
So a little look at our weekend (and yes, they're all clickable).
The result of practising my hairdressing skills. Pretty good, eh? (Oops, sorry. The Most Adorable Granddaughter in the World#1 is always reminding me that 'eh' is not a word!)
Son#5 has a break from study and The Most Adorable Granddaughter in the World#2 tries a unique approach to holding an ice block (much to her sister's disgust).
A quiet moment.
"Did she just eat my hair? No wonder I haven't got enough for clips and pony tails!" (The Most Adorable Granddaughter in the World#2 desperately wants to be able to wear all the pretty clips and ribbons that her sister wears but it's just not possible at the moment - no matter how creative we are in trying to get them to stay in.)
"I'm taller."
Son#2 gets some practical experience at fatherhood. (Not that he needs it - he's going to make a great Dad in about oh, 7 or 8 months.)

You really do have exceptionally cute grandkids and an adorable dog to boot. I cannot really think her so ditzy as you say--Border Collies are usually so clever! But maybe it is possible to be both clever and ditzy at the same time.
Your double french braids are wonderful--they remind me of this style: http://www.girlydohairstyles.com/2008/04/braided-ribbon.html
I am glad that you have your family to make time go by faster while you are waiting for DH to return! And they are all undoubtedly lucky to have you, too.
Winterwren with the French braids we had to take a photo while they still looked good. As you can see with the ice block photos, all the front hair had worked free by mid afternoon.
And well done for spotting that our dog is a Border Collie. Most people don't pick it because of her colouoring. Just an example of her ditzy-ness: a few weeks ago when DH was in bed with a migraine I could hear Kielsie crying. Son#5 and I went to investigate and she'd jumped up on a wire link fence and a barb had gone into her paw. We had to extract her by torch light!
Another example: I've been watering my garden just now and it has been quite difficult because Kielsie keeps trying to drink the water that's coming out of the hose and has been jumping all over me and my new seedlings and generally being a nuisance! But we do love her and she loves the granddaughters and is very protective of them.
I want to share how I learnt because it's quite neat but it will have to wait just a few days yet.
