We are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of our precious grandchild. I can't remember being this impatient with the last two but I probably was. The time's dragging ... and I'm not even the one who is pregnant.
DIL#1 isn't officially due for another week but baby has been in position for three weeks and each time I see her I'm convinced that she can't last another day, let alone another week. But she keeps on despite the heat, the swollen ankles, and having two preschoolers to chase after.
Several of us have ideas of when would be the ideal day for baby to be born. DIL#1 wanted it at least a week after The Most Adorable Granddaughter#1's birthday. Well she's received her wish.
I wanted it before Son#3 returned north because he missed out on being here when The Most Adorable Granddaughter#2 was born. I didn't get my wish but at least baby wasn't born while we were away. For that I'm grateful.
Son#2 thought 11.1.11 (or 1.11.11 for my US readers) would look great on the birth certificate. He didn't get his wish either although I suspect he has another wish and that's that baby will be born when he's on duty so he can hold her before anyone else does. It's bad enough that he was able just to swipe his card and walk into the maternity unit and see The Most Adorable Granddaughter#2 the morning after she was born while most of us had to wait until visiting hours, he now wants to do it again. He seems to forget that I am the grandmother after all and should have first rights after her parents and sisters.
And the baby's daddy? He just hopes she's born on his birthday. Since that's tomorrow, we'll know soon enough whether or not he gets his wish.

DIL#1 is known for her short labours. With two children to organise and being half an hour out of town, the uncertainty of when baby is going to come is making us all a little nervous. Son#1 especially. If he had his wish, DIL#1 would be camped outside the hospital until baby arrives!
