A highway out of order (due, it seems, to a massive slip that has rendered the road impassable) meant taking another route - one that was longer. It seemed far longer than the additional half hour added to our trip because there weren't the familiar markers at every hour that usually make our trip pass quickly. And, being Friday afternoon, it was busier than what we were used to.
But there was some spectacular scenery ...
And the reason for the trip kept us in high spirits. DIL#3 had given birth to The Most Delightful Little Man and we were going to meet our first grandson and spend some delicious time with him.
That more than compensates for the fact that we will most likely be using this longer route for several months yet and certainly surpasses any magnificient scenery.
