Breaking Rules ... But Not Traditions

Sometimes our self-imposed rules go out the door and today was one of those days. Funnily enough, it wasn't until the end of the day that I realised I had broken many of my own rules. Rules such as: everyone has to stir the Christmas pudding (most had lost interest by that stage); or, no Christmas trees before December (the tree was already in place when I realised that we were still in November).

But rules were meant to be broken ... and there was nothing broken about the fun we had today.

We started early ... with games of Memory at 5:45 am in bed with The Most Charming Grandson#1 to ensure others were able to sleep in. (We didn't want anyone lacking in strength and energy today).

Then it was into the pudding making where everyone had a turn

and almost everyone got to do the taste test (those that didn't have a turn had very willing helpers to step in and do it for them).

After the puddings were tied and boiling away on the stove (for eight hours - it's hardly the most economical Christmas pudding)

it was time to search for a Christmas tree. But where to start when there are so many choices?

However, eventually a tree was chosen and after some minor difficulties was proudly in place and the decorating could begin ...

Again, the old adage that many hands make light work was proved to be correct.
